Jan. 6,,, 25 years ago: 1987 Goodbye, Memphis Technical High School; hello, "Comprehensive Pupil Services Center." Tech will close at the end of the school year and reopen in the fall as a special facility for pregnant students, students with behavior problems and special education students interested in vocational classes under a plan approved last night by the city school board. The board approved the controversial proposal 6-3, despite attempts by board member Rickey Peete to prevent the action and protests by area residents who fear "problem students" will cause trouble. |

I am so happy to announce that Dot Gorman Hager is going to fill Mickey's place on the Sunshine Committee.
